How to Install Ollama and Choose Your Model

Ollama is a tool that lets you run and manage AI models locally on your machine. You can download and run the models you want — for free.

Step 1: Download Ollama

1. Go to Ollama Download
2. Select your OS (Windows 10+, macOS, or Linux)
3. Click Download and follow the installation prompts

Step 2: Install and Launch Ollama

• Windows: Open the .exe file and follow the setup wizard
• macOS: Drag the .dmg file into Applications
• Linux: Use curl or apt commands to install

Step 3: Choose Your Model

1. Open Terminal / Command Prompt

2. Run:

   ollama run llama2
   

   (Replace llama2 with the model you want, e.g., mistral, gemma, etc.)

3. Ollama will download and start the model instantly

Step 4: Manage Models

• List downloaded models:

  ollama list
  

• Remove unused models:

  ollama rm model_name
